Abstract

This paper explores the evolution and perspectives of the global community towards India’s stance on climate change. India grapples with maintaining a balance between national development and combating climate change. This paper examines India’s role in international agreements, such as the Paris Agreement, and its position on climate justice. It evaluates India’s proactive role in formulating state-level policies that align with major international and national climate goals. It shall be examined how state-level initiatives support national climate goals, which reflect a multi-tiered governance approach. Further, it will analyze the engagement of non-state actors and civil society in climate policy implementation. A key aspect of India’s climate diplomacy is tackling the economic effects of climate-related migration. Migration is increasing as more people are frequently getting displaced due to extreme weather events. Drawing on academic research papers and reliable online sources, this paper explores India’s path towards building a climateresilient economy. It is also argued that climate diplomacy should not be limited to any one country; all nations must work together for effective global climate governance. In the present decade, India has become a central player in future climate initiatives.
