Research Mapping of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity: A Visualization Approach

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cybersecurity is a booming concept which is changing world rapidly. Indian and United States are the front runner countries in terms of conducting quality research output in the blending of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cybersecurity. Two universities of India, Chitkara University Institute of Engineering and Technology and Graphic Era Deemed to be University, along with Department of Criminology at Swansea University, UK, are emerging to be the top universities contributing a lot in this field.

Purpose: The main and primary objective of the research is to conduct extensive bibliometric analysis in order to understand the landscape of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cybersecurity for over the last 2 decades. Bibliometric indicators are used to understand the progression and trends in these areas over a particular span of time. The output will influence the way forward in this field channelizing collaboration patterns and impact of analysis within the research ecosystem.

Methodology: Extensive research was done after undergoing exploring 4140 publication form databases of Scopus within a particular frame of time from 2002 to 2024, with the help of keyword search. Network visualizations and scrutiny was undergone with the help of VOS viewer. It helped to identify collaboration patterns, influence of thematic relationships and intellectual structure within corpus. It helped to identify influencing authors and the major work of research in the span of the duration of study. It offers valuable insights in this highly progressive field.

Research limitations: The research with the bibliometric analysis will provide a detail study about the overview of the scenario of the landscape of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cybersecurity. It will help the research to identify right direction and current trends of this highly dynamic area.

Originality: The research is exceptionally a detailed study of bibliometric analysis regarding Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity field. Different bibliometric indicators are employed to demonstrate the application regarding uniqueness of the study with the use of VOS.
