MACHINES AND MORALITY: IMPACT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ON HUMAN RIGHTS

Abstract

Science and Technology have played a pivotal role in the society. It has increased the efficiency of doing tasks and reduced the time taken to perform them. Artificial Intelligence (AI) technique is one perfect example of such advancements which has covered almost every aspect of life, be it healthcare sector, academics, litigation, corporates etc. There are many benefits attached with AI tools. Nevertheless, the rising use of this technology has raised many questions, specifically relating to human rights, like there are chances of algorithm biasness and discrimination, which can in consequence affect the outcomes in areas like criminal justice. The way it is performing the functions, it is posing a threat to the existence of humans who are becoming completely dependent on it and it is also causing privacy issues. The paper shall discuss many such issues that relate to the violation of human rights by the use of AI technology. Human rights are the basic needs which all the individuals are entitled to. However, there is a positive side as well of this tool as one is able to get justice in a better and efficient way because by the use of various AI tools and techniques, the innovative investigation procedures have developed and it has become easier to detect the commission of the crime and to identify the real culprit. Therefore, the present paper shall focus both on the positives and negative aspects of AI. The study is based upon the doctrinal research wherein various scholarly articles have been delved into in order to arrive at the findings of the paper.
